Mrs Quinn’s Retirement

24th of October 2014 was the date our principal Mrs Olive Quinn retired from our school. Her leaving brought many tears to the students and teachers too. Mrs Quinn had been part of our school since 1974. She was fair, considerate and knowledgeable. She loved kids and working with them. She always had time for each student. She knew us all by name. Everyone loved her as their friend and principal. Mrs Quinn put the “pal“ into principal. Not everyone cried but everyone was filled with sorrow. She will be missed; she was a friend to me and everyone. We had a flash mob dedicated to her on the last day. We danced, sang and laughed at the memories we shared. She will always have a place in our hearts.

The Thursday before Halloween, we had a very special start of the year mass. We sang Mrs. Quinn’s favourite hymns and presented her with gifts. The mass ended in tears. Secretively, every class had learned songs for Mrs Quinn, replacing well-known song words. We sang these on Friday. Sixth class started a flash mob apparently cleaning the hall and the other classes then joined in and then we were joined by the Boys school and students from the Secondary school.

Our annual Halloween walk down town took place on October 24th. As always, the children and parents went to great lengths designing and making wonderful costumes and added a bit of colour to the town that morning.
