Speaker from Trocaire

On January 30th, Martina from Trocaire spoke to the Senior Students about this year’s trocaire Lenten Campaign and in particular about theCommunity in Ethiopia which has been chosen as this Years Project for the funds collected.
The children and teachers alike found that this talk made them appreciate all the more all we normally take for granted in our lives.

Grandparents’ Day

On January 28th last, we celebrated Grandparents Day and National Catholic Schools Week with a Prayer Service in the Hall. The Junior and Senior Infants invited their Grandparents to the event, while the other classes wrote Poems, Stories etc about their Grandparents and brought in Photographs. We thank Fr. Farrell who led the Prayer Service and The Parents’ Association who provided refreshments afterwards.

In Preparation for St. Brigid’s Day on February 1st, we invited Donna, a student from Moate Business College to demonstrate the art of Making traditional St. Brigid’s Crosses with some of the classes. Donna went to a lot of effort to source the rushes and spent a considerable amouint of time demonstrating and perfecting the crosses with the children. All were delighted with the finished products, some of which will be used in our Grandparent’s Day/Catholic Schools’ Week Celebrations on January 28th.
