Tribute to Bernie

St Brigid’s School community were greatly saddened to learn of the recent passing of Bernie Kilduff, who had served as Lollipop Lady to the community for 15 years, right up to her death. Bernie carried out her role with the safety of each and every child to the fore, and did so in a friendly, caring manner. Bernie had a great love for life, enjoying music and dance in particular, and this joy was evident to all who knew her.

Bernie was well- loved by staff, parents and the local community alike but it was her special connection with the pupils which set her apart.

Each morning, she greeted them all by name and her smile was a welcome to our School each day.

The pupils showed their appreciation for Bernie in the many cards, pictures and floral tributes they brought to the school gate to mark her passing.  Staff, pupils and parents paid tribute to Bernie through a Guard of Honour at her Funeral Mass.

Bernie will be missed from our School community for many years to come. May her gentle soul Rest in Peace.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.
