Parents Association Meeting

 Meeting chaired by Secretary in absence of Chair – PA expressed sympathy to Cathy
Gillivan Principal on the recent passing of her mother Nancy last month. RIP
 Treasurer discussed Treasury report – suggestions of what other items to fund
o Eg Outdoor Mud Kitchen or Dino Dig, Ice Cream Van or something created by
the Moate Mens Shed (Supporting local initiatives) PA to enquire TBC
 STEM based lego competition (senior pupils) – trialled in Offaly PA to enquire if this
can be done in schools in Westmeath next year
 PA renewed online National Parents Council membership, to check with school if
paid by EFT
 Dancezone and Basketball, French ongoing, Swimming (2nd class up) to commence
27th February
 Army Band – No date yet may try to get for Green Flag ceremony in Summer
 Cash4Clothes Reminder – next collection 25 th March 2023 school to send reminder
 Easter Chicks Fundraiser – pattern for knitted chicks sent out on Aladdin – PA
suggested it might be a good idea for proceeds to go to the local nursing home in
Moate (or to pay for music/entertainment for residents)
 Book Week – 2 nd March – PA to fund 5 x €10 tokens for best Jun/Sen; 1 st /2 nd ; 3 rd /4 th ;
5 th /6 th class and one overall winner
 St. Patricks Day Parade Moate – school considering putting in Green School Float for
Community Awareness
 Fun Run – PA suggests Sunday 21 st May – date to be cleared with
Principal/Council/Guards – PA checked other schools Tubber, Mount Temple,
Castledaly & Rosemount to ensure no clash of other events (ie other Fun Run
Rosemount confirmed 28 th May, Communions all ok and no major sporting events
etc..)
 Parents Cyber Bullying – use of Social Media Information talk in school February 22nd
7pm
 Communion – PA to fund treats /  decorate Arch 13th May
 Dun na Si – PA to fund Supermacs for 6th class children if this goes ahead in June
