Green Schools Action Day March 5th 2014

On Wednesday, March 5th, we held our Green Schools Action Day and were visited by An Taisce Offiicer, Mieke Scholte, for the Renewal of our Green Flag for the Travel Theme. The day began with a whole school community walk from Moate Community Hall , which involved pupils staff, parents, grandparents and members of the Garda Traffic Corp. The aim of the walk was to promote Park and Stride as a means of getting to school each day. The atmosphere was greatly enhanced by the colourfull posters on display which were created by some of the students. Back at school we had healthy snacks for the children, followed by talks in all classses on Road Usage and safety. These talks were given by local Traffis Corp Garda, Brendan Madden and by our own faithful Lollipop Lady, Bernie. All were invited to view the displays on the Travel theme that were in the Hall and the day finished with the presentation of Prizes for our Green Schools Competitions.
