2nd Class to 6th Class enjoyed Athletics in TUS for the last 6 weeks. It was a wonderful experience enjoyed by all.
Read Anna Carroll’s recount to hear all the details! Well done Anna.
Today was the last day of Athletics. We have been doing athletics for the past 6 weeks. I am very unhappy that Athletics is over but overall they were some of the best six weeks of school so far. Let’s do a little recap on what happened in the six weeks of athletics.
On the first day of Athletics we got to meet all the coaches. Brian was the only one who was there from the previous year. Brian is from Galway and he is really funny. The new coaches’ names were Andy, Aaron and Princess. On the first day we did some running and practised our techniques.
On the second day we enjoyed relays and I was on the same team as my friends. We did really well. We came 1st in one race and 2nd in the other. It was really fun.
On the third day we did long jump. I am good at that but not as good as other people in my class! Every 10 or 20 minutes we moved to a different station. At these stations we practised different skills.
On the fourth day we did hurdles. I really like the hurdles. They are so much fun. It’s like you are actually flying in the air when you jump over the hurdles. That day Kaja had a hard fall but she survived to tell the tale!
On the fifth day we did some running exercises and then went outside and did some cross country running. We even had a race with the coaches!
The sixth day (our last day) was the best. We got to try out the high jump – my favourite. We even got to see Brian do the high jump – he is way better than all of us combined.
I really enjoyed our six weeks of athletics and we are so lucky we have the wonderful TUS facilities on our doorstep. It was a great experience.
